우선 시는 AI 기반 스타트업 육성을 위한 핵심 인프라인 ‘Tech-Hub’ 구축을 본격화하고, 향후 ‘AI 특화지구’ 조성과 연계한 글로벌 창업 생태계 확장에 속도를 내고 있다. 포항경제자유구역 내 조성되는 Tech-Hub는 2027년 준공을 목표로 약 50개 기업이 입주 가능한 창업공간으로 마련되며, 발굴부터 투자·성장까지 전주기 지원 체계를 갖춘 플랫폼으로 운영될 예정이다. 지역 대학과 애플 디벨로퍼 아카데미 등과 연계해 AI 인재 창업을 촉진하고, GPU 지원과 규제 혁신을 포함한 특화지구 조성을 통해 글로벌 기업 유치도 추진한다.
복지 분야에서는 퇴원환자 연계사업을 중심으로 통합돌봄 체계를 강화하고 있다. 시는 최근 지역 병원을 방문해 의료·복지 연계 시스템을 점검하고 협력체계를 보완했으며, 퇴원 이후에도 시민이 지역사회에서 안정적으로 회복할 수 있도록 지원을 확대할 방침이다.
안전 분야에서도 산업재해 예방을 위한 대응이 강화됐다. 시는 산업안전보건위원회를 통해 예방 중심의 안전관리 체계를 확립하고, 안전보건지킴이 운영과 중대재해처벌법 준수 인증제 도입 등을 추진한다. 특히 최근 3년간 재해 분석을 기반으로 현장 맞춤형 대책을 마련하고, 약 300개 사업장을 대상으로 점검을 실시할 계획이다.
청년 정책 역시 본격 추진된다. 제3기 청년정책조정위원회를 출범시킨 시는 ‘2030 청년친화도시’ 조성을 목표로 취·창업, 주거, 경력개발 등 생애주기별 맞춤형 정책을 발굴하고, 대학 및 청년단체와 협력해 현장 중심 정책 추진에 나선다.
지역경제 활성화를 위한 정책도 이어진다. 포항시는 4월부터 포항사랑상품권 170억 원을 10% 할인 판매해 소비를 촉진하고 소상공인 지원에 나선다. 다양한 결제 방식과 가맹점 확대를 통해 시민 편의성과 이용률을 높인다는 계획이다.
이와 함께 제64회 경북도민체육대회를 앞두고 민·관 협력 서포터즈를 운영해 선수단을 지원하고 있으며, 노사민정협의회를 통해 노동환경 개선과 상생 협력 기반도 강화하고 있다.
도시 안전과 행정 관리 측면에서도 대응이 강화됐다. 교통신호제어시스템에 대한 사이버 보안 점검을 실시하고, 공유재산 무단 점용 의심 필지에 대한 사전 통지를 통해 공정한 재산 관리에 나선다.
또한 유네스코 창의도시 네트워크 가입 추진과 공무원 교육을 통해 도시 브랜드 경쟁력 확보에도 힘쓰고 있으며, ‘Blooming Street’ 사업을 통해 도심 곳곳에 사계절 꽃길을 조성하는 등 도시 미관 개선과 시민 삶의 질 향상도 함께 추진하고 있다.
