【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=제천시는 지난 24일 제천시농업기술센터 농업인교육장에서 도시민 25세대를 대상으로 체류형 농업창업지원센터 입교식을 열고 본격적인 운영에 들어갔다.
제천시 체류형 농업창업지원센터는 2016년 전국 최초로 운영을 시작한 이후 10년간 298세대 421명의 예비 귀농귀촌인을 양성했으며, 이 가운데 167세대가 제천에 정착했다. 센터는 단독주택 24동과 원룸형 11실의 주거시설을 비롯해 교육센터 1동, 비닐하우스 2동, 사과 과수원 약 100평, 실습 농지 등으로 조성돼 있다.
올해는 서울과 경기도 등 도시지역에서 입교한 귀농귀촌 예정자 25세대 40여 명이 함께 체류하며 세대별 텃밭을 운영하는 등 예비 귀농귀촌을 위한 실습 중심 교육을 받게 된다.
또한 전문 강사의 지도를 통해 농촌을 이해하고 농업을 체계적으로 익힐 수 있는 단계별 교육과정을 운영한다.
최근 젊은 세대의 귀농 증가와 취업 여건 변화 등으로 20대부터 40대까지 귀농에 관한 관심이 높아지고 있으며, 실제 농촌에 거주하며 다양한 영농 경험을 쌓을 수 있어 체류형 농업창업지원센터에 대한 수요도 꾸준히 늘고 있다.
이날 입교식은 입교생과 가족, 선배 수료생 등 50여 명이 참석한 가운데 축하 인사와 환영 인사, 입교자 소감 순으로 진행됐다.
최승환 제천시장 권한대행 부시장은 축사를 통해 “귀농 귀촌 인구 유입을 촉진하기 위한 다양한 정책과 지원사업을 확대해 나가겠다”라며 “교육생들이 수료 이후에도 안정적으로 정착할 수 있도록 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”라고 말했다.
입교생들은 오는 11월 30일까지 9개월간 기초 이론 교육과 영농 기술 실습을 병행하는 교육과정을 이수하며, 멘토, 멘티 활동을 통해 선도농가와 선배 귀농인으로부터 작목별 재배 기술과 현장 경험을 배우게 된다.
