【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=서원대학교 환경공학과는 3월 23일부터 24일까지 충주시 일원에서 전공 학습과 공동체 활동을 결합한 이색 MT를 운영했다. 이번 MT는 수소 에너지와 자원순환 기반 바이오에너지 기술을 통합적으로 체험할 수 있도록 기획됐다.
환경공학과는 충주 바이오그린 수소충전소와 충주 음식물바이오에너지센터를 찾아 수소 생산·저장·충전 과정과 음식물류 폐기물의 바이오가스화 및 에너지화 공정을 견학했다. 이를 통해 학생들은 탄소중립 실현의 핵심 기술인 수소 에너지와 폐기물 자원화 시스템을 이해하고 이론과 실무를 연결하는 학습 기회를 가졌다.
또한 현장 전문가와의 질의응답을 통해 관련 산업의 발전 전망과 전공 진로에 대한 이해를 높였으며, 이후 교수진과 선후배가 함께하는 프로그램을 진행하며 구성원 간 유대감을 다졌다.
행사에 참여한 신입생은 “수소 및 바이오에너지 시설을 직접 보며 전공에 대한 이해와 흥미가 높아졌고 학과 구성원들과 가까워지면서 앞으로의 대학생활과 진로에 대한 기대가 더 커졌다”라고 말했다.
서원대 환경공학과 김충곤 학과장은 “현장 중심 프로그램이 전공 이해도와 진로 역량을 높이는 계기가 되기를 기대한다”라며 “앞으로도 배움과 즐거움이 공존하는 학과 문화를 지속적으로 발전시키고자 한다”라고 밝혔다.
