국민의힘 홍흥석 고양특례시장 예비후보가 고양시의 교통·경제 구조를 전면 개편해 ‘찾아오는 도시’로 탈바꿈시키겠다는 종합 비전을 제시했다.

홍 예비후보는 3월 26일 오전 고양시의회 영상회의실에서 기자간담회를 열고 “정체된 도시 구조를 바꾸기 위해서는 교통과 산업을 동시에 혁신해야 한다”며 이같이 밝혔다.
그는 자신을 33년 경력의 공인회계사로 소개하며 “건설·투자·해운업 등 실물경제 현장에서 검증된 경험을 바탕으로 고양시의 변화를 이끌겠다”고 강조했다.
홍 예비후보는 고양시 정체의 가장 큰 원인으로 ‘교통 문제’를 지목했다.
1994년 일산 입주 이후 30년간 도시 변화를 지켜봤다는 그는 “대규모 재정이 필요한 장기 사업이 아니라, 시민이 1년 내 체감할 수 있는 현실적인 대책이 필요하다”고 말했다.
이를 위해 ▲백석역~김포공항 간 셔틀버스 운행 ▲자유로 버스전용차로 도입 ▲지하철 9호선 대화·킨텍스 연장 추진 등을 핵심 공약으로 제시했다.
특히 9호선 연장과 관련해 “강남까지 50분대 생활권을 구축하고, 마곡지구 기업들과의 접근성을 높여 도시 경쟁력을 강화하겠다”고 설명했다.
교통 문제 해결 이후에는 산업 기반 확충에 집중하겠다는 구상도 내놓았다.
홍 예비후보는 “기업이 들어와야 일자리가 생기고, 도시가 성장한다”며 ▲킨텍스 인근 1만 실 규모 비즈니스 호텔 건립 ▲CJ아레나 조기 완공을 위한 시 직접 시행 등을 추진하겠다고 밝혔다.
이어 “민간에만 맡기는 방식에서 벗어나, 시가 주도적으로 사업 환경을 조성해 전시·공연·관광이 결합된 ‘FUN 산업’을 육성하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
이날 가장 주목받은 공약은 ‘돔구장 건설’이다.
홍 예비후보는 돔구장을 단순한 체육시설이 아닌 공연·스포츠·전시가 결합된 복합 경제 플랫폼으로 규정했다.
프로야구단 유치를 통해 연중 방문객을 확보하고, 이를 기반으로 주변 상권을 활성화하겠다는 계획이다.
그는 “돔구장은 고양의 미래를 바꿀 경제 엔진이 될 것”이라며 “지속적인 수익 창출이 가능한 구조를 만들겠다”고 강조했다.
