Dongducheon City, 'Love Food Truck: A Warm Meal Running Through Dongducheon!'
Beyond a simple food service vehicle, the Love Food Truck will become a mobile welfare hub delivering hope and warmth to marginalized neighbors in our society.
[Break News Dongducheon = Reporter Kim Wan-young] On the 24th, the Dongducheon City Volunteer Center in Gyeonggi Province held a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony and a meeting to promote the operation of the 'Love Food Truck' at the auditorium of the Saengyeon Gongyunuri Center, with the participation of 12 volunteer organizations and the Dongducheon Rotary Club.
This meeting was organized to establish a public-private cooperation system prior to the full-scale operation of the 'Love Food Truck,' which was produced with the full support of the Dongducheon Rotary Club and Rotary International Headquarters. The 12 organizations participating in the agreement on this day agreed to jointly carry out free meal services and talent-sharing activities twice a month for vulnerable groups in welfare blind spots, such as the elderly living alone, foreign immigrants, and underprivileged children.
In his remarks, Dongducheon Mayor Park Hyung-deok stated, “The ‘Food Truck of Love’ will go beyond being a simple food service vehicle and become a mobile welfare hub that delivers hope and warmth to the marginalized neighbors of our society.” He added, “I express my deep gratitude to the Rotary Club for practicing international sharing and to the heads of volunteer organizations who willingly joined hands despite their busy livelihoods. The city will also provide active support for the successful operation of the food truck.” Kim Tae-hoon, President of the Dongducheon Rotary Club, who played a pivotal role in the project, stated, “I find it deeply meaningful to be able to start this first day, marking the beginning of the project, together with our partner volunteer organizations.” He added, “I hope the meal we have prepared with care with the volunteer groups we signed agreement with today will be a great comfort to our neighbors in need, and I will serve with a sense of mission to ensure the food truck continues to run without stopping.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Food Truck of Love,’ whose operational plan was finalized at the meeting held on this day, is scheduled to begin its journey of sharing in earnest with a grand donation ceremony at 10:00 AM on April 15 at the Dongducheon Civic Center, attended by partner volunteer organizations and the leadership of Rotary International Thailand.
