Uijeongbu City Conducts ‘Renovation of Our Forest Trails’ Activities with Public Officials in Suraksan, Buyongsan, and Cheonbosan Areas
Serving as an Opportunity for Public Officials to Directly Inspect and Manage Forest Trails Created Together with Citizens
[Break News Uijeongbu = Reporter Kim Wan-young] As part of the ‘Renovation of Our Neighborhood’ initiative—a village environmental cleanup activity organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety—Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province, carried out the ‘Renovation of Our Forest Trails’ activity to maintain major mountains within its jurisdiction over a two-day, one-night period from March 22 to 23.
This activity was organized to strengthen field-oriented administrative capabilities by allowing public officials to directly experience and inspect the city’s policy projects. In particular, the hiking courses in the Suraksan, Buyongsan, and Cheonbosan areas, which were the targets of the renovation, are significant as they are routes created together with citizens during field surveys last autumn.
During the two days and one night, participating public officials walked along major hiking trails and carried out environmental cleanup efforts, including collecting discarded waste in the surrounding areas. In particular, at the "Policy Sharing Meeting" held after the first day's schedule, employees shared their opinions on the strengths and areas for improvement of the forest trails they experienced during the hike.
One employee who participated in the meeting remarked, "Walking the trails created together with citizens has deepened my understanding of our city's policies," adding, "If a long-distance forest trail course spanning three days and two nights around Uijeongbu is developed, I would like to participate again."
A city official stated, "This activity will serve as an opportunity for public officials to directly inspect and manage the forest trails created with citizens," adding, "We will continue to have employees inspect policies on-site and identify areas for improvement."
