<브레이크뉴스 강원 = 김일웅 기자> 북부지방산림청이 다가오는 제81회 식목일을 뜻깊게 기념하고 기후위기 대응에 앞장서기 위해 26일 원주 댄싱공연장 일원에서 ‘2026년 내 나무 갖기 행사’를 성황리에 개최했다.

이번 행사는 산림청이 전국적으로 전개하는 ‘범국민 나무심기 캠페인’의 일환으로 마련됐다. 평소 도심 속에서 나무를 직접 심고 가꾸기 어려운 국민들에게 손쉬운 나무 심기 기회를 제공하고, 숲이 가진 핵심 기능인 ‘탄소흡수원’에 대한 긍정적 인식을 널리 확산하기 위해 북부지방산림청, 원주시청, 산림조합, 조경협의회가 민관 합동으로 뜻을 모았다.

이날 현장에서는 대중적인 선호도가 높은 대추나무, 매실나무, 자두나무, 모과나무 등 유실수와 다육식물을 포함해 총 2만 2,400그루의 묘목이 선착순으로 무료 배부되어 행사장을 찾은 시민들의 큰 호응을 얻었다. 아울러 봄철 산불 예방 캠페인과 산림복지서비스 등 산림청의 주요 핵심 정책을 알리는 대국민 홍보 활동도 활발히 병행되어 행사의 의미를 한층 더했다.
