[Break News Yangju = Reporter Kim Wan-young] Yangju City Council Member Jeong Hyeon-ho received the Grand Prize in the Merit Category at the ‘22nd Gyeonggi Social Welfare Grand Prize Ceremony,’ held on the 26th at the main performance hall of the Bel Canto Art Center at Suwon University.
The Gyeonggi Association of Social Workers has been holding the Gyeonggi Social Workers' Conference to commemorate Social Workers' Day and has been awarding the Gyeonggi Social Welfare Grand Prize to individuals recognized for their contributions to the social welfare sector within Gyeonggi Province.
Council Member Jeong Hyeon-ho received the Grand Prize for his significant contributions to the advancement of medical welfare in the local community. These contributions included pointing out the severe medical gap in the border regions of northern Gyeonggi, implementing plans for the relocation and new construction of public medical centers, and spreading hospice and well-dying cultures. In particular, Assemblyman Jeong garnered attention for introducing the "Proposal Urging Institutional Improvements for the Consistent Implementation of Plans for the Relocation and New Construction of Public Medical Centers within the Uijeongbu Intermediate Medical Service Area and the Expansion of the Financial Foundation for Public Healthcare."
The "Ordinance on the Creation of a Culture of Hospice, Palliative Care, and Well-Dying in Yangju City" and the "Ordinance on the Encouragement of Organ and Tissue Donation in Yangju City," which he introduced, have contributed to providing high-quality medical services to local communities in Korea, which has entered a super-aged society, while simultaneously raising awareness of the precious value of life.
Meanwhile, Assemblyman Jeong shared his thoughts on receiving the award, stating, "I feel a sense of fulfillment in my legislative activities aimed at improving welfare services, including medical care and caregiving. I will continue to take the lead in protecting the happiness of citizens through active legislative work."
