고양특례시가 도심 속 생태 보고인 장항습지를 교실로 옮겨 미래 세대를 위한 환경교육에 나선다.
고양특례시는 람사르 습지로 지정된 장항습지의 생태적 가치를 널리 알리고 환경보전의 중요성을 일상 속에서 체득할 수 있도록, 오는 4월부터 초등학생 대상 ‘찾아가는 현장학습’ 프로그램을 본격 추진한다고 27일 밝혔다.
이번 프로그램은 거리나 일정 등의 제약으로 장항습지생태관을 직접 방문하기 어려운 학교들을 위해 마련됐다.

전문 생태강사가 학교를 직접 찾아가는 방식으로 운영되며, 교육 접근성을 높이는 동시에 지역사회와 연계한 환경교육의 실효성을 강화하는 데 중점을 두고 있다.
교육은 초등학교 1학년부터 6학년까지 전 학년을 대상으로 하며, 4월부터 11월까지 권역별 순회 방식으로 진행된다.
일정은 4~5월 일산동구, 6~7월 일산서구, 9~11월 덕양구 순으로 운영된다.
수업은 회당 100분으로 구성되며 하루 2회, 학교 정규 수업 시간에 맞춰 체계적으로 이뤄진다.
