더불어민주당 대전광역시당 공천관리위원회가 제9회 전국동시지방선거를 앞두고 대전 지역 5개 자치구의 기초단체장 경선 후보군과 심사 결과를 공식 발표했다.
원용철 대전시당 공천관리위원장은 27일 대전시의회 기자실에서 기자회견을 열고, 시민의 눈높이에 맞춘 엄격한 도덕성 잣대와 무관용 원칙을 기반으로 서류 심사, 면접, 정밀 적합도 조사를 거쳐 필승 대진표를 확정했다고 밝혔다.
대전 5개 자치구 기초단체장 대진표를 보면 유성구는 현 정용래 청장이 단수 추천 후보로 결정되었으며, 나머지 4개 자치구는 경선을 통해 최종 후보를 가려내게 된다.
대전 동구청장은 윤기식, 남진근, 황인호 예비후보의 3인 경선이 진행되고, 중구청장은 김제선, 육상래 예비후보의 2인 경선으로 후보자를 결정한다.
가장 많은 대전 서구청장 후보 결정은 관심을 모았던 김종천 전 대전시의회 의장과 전문학 전 대전시의원이 컷오프 되면서 신혜영, 서희철, 김창관, 전명자, 주정봉 예비후보가 참여해 '예비경선-본경선-결선투표' 형태의 다단계 압축 방식을 전격 도입한다.
대덕구청장 후보는 김안태, 김찬술, 박종래 예비후보의 3인 경선을 실시하고 1차 경선에서 과반 득표자가 나오지 않을 경우 1,2위가 참여하는 결선을 실시하게 된다.
서구를 비롯해 3인 이상이 경선을 치르는 지역에서는 과반 득표자가 없을 경우 결선투표를 실시하여 후보의 대표성과 본선 경쟁력을 극대화한다는 방침이다.
대전시당 공관위는 기초단체장 후보 경선 외에도 당의 정체성과 의정 역량을 검증한 광역의원 후보 31명과 기초의원 후보 36명의 명단도 함께 심사 완료했다고 덧붙였다.
원용철 위원장은 공천 심사 결과에 이의가 있는 후보자들을 위해 발표 후 48시간 이내에 재심을 신청할 수 있는 권리를 보장한다고 설명했다.
기초단체장 후보는 중앙당 재심위원회에서, 지방의원 후보는 시당 재심위원회에서 심사를 다시 받게 된다. 만약 시당의 결정에도 이의가 있을 경우 중앙당 공천신문고를 통해 추가 재심을 요청할 수 있다.
원 위원장은 이번 공천이 시민 앞에 내놓는 공적인 약속인 만큼 오로지 실력과 도덕성만을 기준으로 사심 없이 평가했다고 자평하며, 철저한 검증을 통과한 민주당 후보들에게 시민과 당원들의 성원을 당부했다.
한편 이날 원용철 공천관리 위원장은 대전시의원과 기초의원 단수 공천 대상자와 경선 대상자 명단도 함께 공개했다.

The Nomination Management Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea’s Daejeon Metropolitan City Chapter officially announced the pool of candidates and screening results for the primary elections for the heads of the five autonomous districts in Daejeon ahead of the 9th National Simultaneous Local Elections.
Won Yong-cheol, Chairman of the Daejeon City Chapter’s Nomination Management Committee, held a press conference at the Daejeon City Council press room on the 27th and stated that a winning lineup was finalized following document screening, interviews, and detailed suitability assessments, based on strict moral standards aligned with citizens' expectations and a zero-tolerance principle.
