민주평화통일자문회의 고양시협의회와 한국항공대학교가 미래 세대의 올바른 통일관 정립과 지역사회 평화 기반 구축을 위해 협력에 나섰다.
민주평통 고양시협의회는 지난 3월 26일 한국항공대학교 본관 회의실에서 한국항공대와 ‘통일기반 조성 및 연대 협력을 위한 업무협약(MOU)’을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이날 협약식에는 김성주 협의회장과 허희영 총장을 비롯한 양 기관 주요 관계자 10여 명이 참석해 상호 협력 의지를 다졌다.

이번 협약은 지속 가능한 평화통일 기반을 마련하고 대학과 지역사회 간 연계를 통해 공동 발전을 도모하는 데 목적이 있다.
양 기관은 이를 위해 대학생을 대상으로 평화통일에 대한 공감대를 확산하고 올바른 통일 인식을 제고하는 교육을 추진하는 한편, 통일 관련 학술 연구와 교육 활동을 상호 지원하기로 했다.
또한 민주·평화·통일 분야의 다양한 프로그램을 공동으로 개발하고 운영하는 등 실질적인 협력 사업을 확대해 나갈 계획이다.
김성주 협의회장은 “이번 협약을 계기로 청년 세대가 올바른 통일관을 바탕으로 한반도의 평화와 번영을 이끌어갈 주역으로 성장하길 기대한다”며 “앞으로도 한국항공대와 긴밀히 소통해 지역사회와 함께하는 실질적인 통일 준비에 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.
허희영 총장도 “학생들이 미래 통일 리더로서 필요한 소양을 갖추는 뜻깊은 계기가 될 것”이라며 “민주평통 고양시협의회와 협력해 지역사회와 상생하는 지속 가능한 평화 모델을 만들어 나가겠다”고 말했다.

양 기관은 이번 협약을 계기로 구체적인 세부 사업을 논의하고, 대학생들이 직접 참여할 수 있는 다양한 통일 관련 활동을 본격적으로 추진해 나갈 방침이다.
