[Break News Yangju = Reporter Kim Wan-young] Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyeon) held the Yangju City Intangible Heritage Organization Council Meeting at the Comprehensive Tourist Information Center on the 27th to preserve and pass on local traditional culture and to revitalize intangible heritage.
Eight representative local intangible heritage preservation organizations attended the meeting, including the Yangju Byeolsandae Nori Preservation Society, the Yangju Sonori Gut Preservation Society, the Yangju Sangyeo and Hoedaji Sori Preservation Society, the Yangju Nongak Preservation Society, the Cheonbong Najeon Chilgi Preservation Society, the Cheongnyeonsa Yesu Siwangsaeng Chiljae Preservation Society, the Yangju Deulnorae Preservation Society, and the Choi Young Janggun Danggut Preservation Society.
The meeting focused on plans to revitalize intangible heritage by 2026, discussing the sharing of annual performance schedules and strategies for linking with the Yangju Government Office Site revitalization project. In particular, discussions concentrated on cooperation measures among organizations to enhance accessibility for citizens and tourists.
This council meeting was significant in that it allowed for the sharing of operational status and challenges among the participating organizations, and established a practical cooperative framework to strengthen the foundation for the transmission of intangible heritage. Taking this as an opportunity, the city plans to move away from activities centered on individual groups and build an integrated and sustainable transmission structure.
An official from Yangju City stated, "This is the first step toward the systematic preservation and popularization of intangible heritage," adding, "We will continue to spread the value of local cultural assets through continuous cooperation with preservation organizations."
