고양특례시가 창릉천의 새로운 상징으로 떠오를 ‘통일교(가칭 경관보행교)’를 재탄생시키며 시민들의 일상 회복과 지역 활성화에 본격적인 시동을 걸었다.

이번 사업은 단순한 교량 복구를 넘어 단절됐던 지역 간 연결을 회복하고, 창릉천 일대를 새로운 문화·관광 거점으로 탈바꿈시키는 데 의미를 더한다.
새롭게 조성된 통일교는 총 길이 86m, 폭 6m 규모의 보행자 전용 경관 교량으로, 국비 40억 원과 시비 12억 원 등 총 52억 원이 투입됐다.
2024년 설계 공모를 거쳐 2025년 6월 착공, 약 9개월간의 공사를 통해 시민들의 품으로 돌아왔다.
특히 이번 교량은 안전성과 디자인을 동시에 강화한 점이 눈에 띈다.
