세종시가 노후 전력·통신선으로 복잡했던 읍·면 지역의 하늘길을 정비하고, 보다 안전하고 쾌적한 생활환경 조성에 나선다.
세종특별자치시는 과학기술정보통신부가 추진한 공중케이블 정비사업 공모에 최종 선정돼 오는 11월까지 약 20억 원 규모의 정비사업을 추진한다고 1일 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 ‘제3차 공중케이블 정비 중장기 종합계획(2026~2030년)’의 일환으로, 전국 인구 50만 명 미만 시·군 가운데 10개 지자체가 선정됐다.
정비 대상지는 읍·면 지역 전통시장 주변과 오래된 주거지를 중심으로 선정됐다. 세종시는 전력선과 통신선 정비, 방치된 폐선 철거, 전신주 정비 등을 순차적으로 진행해 지역 경관을 개선하고 주민의 보행 안전을 강화할 계획이다.
이번 사업의 특징은 시 재정이 투입되지 않는다는 점이다.
사업비 전액은 한국전력공사와 방송통신사업자가 부담하며, 세종시는 이를 통해 예산 부담 없이 도시 경관을 새롭게 단장하게 된다.
세종시는 이달 중 세부 정밀조사를 실시해 구체적인 정비 구역과 작업 범위를 확정할 예정이다. 또한 공사 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 소음이나 통행 불편을 최소화하기 위해 주민 안내와 사전 홍보를 강화할 방침이다.
