[브레이크뉴스 양주=김완영 기자] 경기도 양주시 회암사지 주민협의체 제2기 위촉식을 양주시립회암사지박물관 1층 영상실에서 지난 3월 31일 개최됐다.
이날 강수현 양주시장으로 부터 위촉장을 받은 제2기 양주 회암사지 세계유산 등재 추진 주민협의체 위원은 제1기 연임 10명과 재2기 신규 10명으로 총 20명이다.
회암사지 주민협의체에서는 회의를 통해 위원장에 오흥진 신한대교수, 부위원장에 김이철 위원, 사무국장에 박시하 위원을 각각 선임했다.
위원들의 임무는 '회암사지 보존관리, 가치홍보, 가치증진 등'의 역할을 하며 금년 4월부터는 지속적인 상시 모니터링과 환경정화 활동, 왕실축제 행사지원, 제48차 유네스코 세계유산위원회 방문, 국제학술대회 참석 등이다.
강수현 시장은 위촉장을 수여하면서 "양주 회암사지는 14세기 동아시아에 만개했던 불교 선종문화의 번영과 확산을 증명하는 탁월한 물적 증거로 세계유산의 가치가 있다며 2029년 6월 유네스코 세계유산 등재를 목표로하고 있다"고 전했다.
