일산동부경찰서는 지난 3월 31일 경찰서 4층 대강당에서 모범운전자회 근무상황점검 및 간담회를 개최했다.

이번 행사는 모범운전자들의 봉사활동을 격려하고 관내 교통사고 예방을 위한 현안 해결 방안을 모색하기 위해 마련됐으며 간담회에는 신광수 일산동부경찰서장과 정영길 일산동부 모범운전자회장을 비롯해 회원 50여 명이 참석했다.
참석자들은 안전한 교통환경 조성을 위해 출퇴근 시간대 주요 교차로 교통정리, 어린이 보호구역(스쿨존) 및 지역행사 캠페인 등 교통안전 활동 강화 방안에 대해 심도 있는 의견을 나눴다.
일산동부경찰서와 모범운전자회의 협력 결과 관내 교통사망사고 발생률은 눈에 띄게 감소했으며 2025년 기준 교통사망사고는 전년 대비 55% 줄어든 것으로 집계됐다.
신광수 서장은 날씨가 풀리면서 마라톤 행사와 지역 축제 등으로 통행량이 많아져 교통사고 위험이 높아지고 있다며 교통안전 시설 개선과 단속, 홍보 활동을 강화하고 있지만 경찰의 노력만으로는 한계가 있다고 설명했으며 더욱 안전하고 행복한 지역사회를 만들기 위해 모범운전자 회원들의 지원과 시민들의 자발적인 동참이 절실하다고 강조했다.
