오 예비후보는 이날 오전 국회 소통관과 오후 경북도의회 다목적실에서 잇따라 기자회견을 열고 “맹목적 지지로 고착화된 투표의 사슬을 끊어내고, 멈춰버린 경북의 심장을 다시 뛰게 하겠다”고 밝혔다.
그는 출마선언에서 “경북에 남은 것은 지역소멸과 썩은 정치뿐”이라며 특정 정당 중심의 정치 구조를 강하게 비판하고, “변화와 미래로 나아가기 위해 도민들의 과감한 결단이 필요하다”고 강조했다.
또한 전쟁 등 급변하는 국제 정세를 언급하며 “진영논리를 넘어 대한민국과 경북의 미래를 위해 결단해야 할 시점”이라며, 이재명 정부의 균형발전 기조와 실용주의 노선을 바탕으로 새로운 지역 발전 전략을 추진하겠다고 밝혔다.
오 예비후보는 자신의 정치 여정을 ‘7전 8기’로 규정했다. 그는 “도지사 3번, 국회의원 3번 등 여섯 번의 낙선을 겪었지만 이는 좌절이 아닌 경북의 자존심을 바로 세우라는 도민의 명령이었다”며 “이번 도전에서 반드시 새로운 역사를 쓰겠다”고 말했다.

이와 함께 대구경북 신공항, 에너지 고속도로 구축과 더불어 포항 이차전지, 구미 반도체, 안동 바이오 등 권역별 전략 산업벨트를 조성해 일자리 생태계를 확대하겠다는 계획도 제시했다.
오 예비후보는 “정당의 벽을 넘어 경북의 미래만을 보고 선택해달라”며 “멈춰선 경상북도의 시간을 다시 움직이겠다”고 지지를 호소했다.
1967년 경북 포항 출신인 그는 포항 대동고와 영남대 철학과를 졸업했으며, 더불어민주당 경북도당 위원장을 지냈다. 문재인 정부 시절 청와대 균형발전비서관실 선임행정관을 역임하는 등 중앙 정치 경험을 쌓았다.

He then presented four key pledges for the advancement of Gyeongbuk and the well-being of its residents.
First, he promised to transform Gyeongbuk, traditionally a conservative stronghold, into a symbol of change. He noted that his support had risen from 5 percent to 34 percent under the Democratic Party banner, calling it evidence of the public’s desire for change, and vowed to fulfill that mission with victory in this election.
Second, he pledged to implement “people-centered, field-oriented administration,” emphasizing that unlike those focused on presidential ambitions, he would prioritize the hardships of residents and demonstrate sincere governance by taking responsibility on the ground, including for wildfire victims and other marginalized groups.
Third, he announced that he would revive discussions on “Daegu–Gyeongbuk administrative integration” in cooperation with Daegu mayoral candidate Kim Boo-kyum. Born in 1967 in Pohang, Gyeongbuk, Oh graduated from Daedong High School in Pohang and majored in philosophy at Yeungnam University. He has long represented the Democratic Party in the politically challenging Gyeongbuk region, serving as chairman of the party’s provincial chapter. During the Moon Jae-in administration, he worked as a senior administrative official at the Presidential Office’s Balanced Development Secretariat, gaining experience in national governance and building central government networks. Despite multiple election defeats, he has remained steadfast, earning recognition as a “seven-times-down, eight-times-up” politician who garnered 34 percent of the vote in the 2018 gubernatorial election.
