대전시가 식육과학기술 분야의 글로벌 네트워크 강화와 관련 산업의 비전 제시를 위해 국제 학술대회 유치 및 준비에 본격적으로 나선다.
대전시는 8일 시청 중회의실에서 세계식육과학기술학회(ICoMST) 조직위원회, 대전관광공사와 함께 ‘제72회 세계식육과학기술학회(ICoMST 2026)’의 성공적인 개최를 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.
이번 협약은 2026년 대전에서 열리는 세계적 권위의 학술대회를 앞두고 기관 간 긴밀한 협조 체계를 구축하기 위해 마련됐다.
협약에 따라 대전시와 각 기관은 학회 운영에 필요한 행정적·재정적 지원을 아끼지 않기로 했으며, 원활한 행사 진행을 위한 유기적인 업무 분담과 홍보 활동에 협력할 방침이다.
특히 대전이 지닌 마이스(MICE) 산업 인프라를 적극 활용해 국제 학술 도시로서의 위상을 한층 높인다는 계획이다.
오는 2026년 8월 9일부터 14일까지 엿새간 대전컨벤션센터(DCC)에서 진행되는 ‘제72회 세계식육과학기술학회’는 전 세계 식육과학 분야 전문가들이 한자리에 모여 최첨단 연구 성과를 공유하고 축산 식품 산업의 미래를 논의하는 자리다.
최성아 대전시 정무경제과학부시장은 이날 협약식에서 식육과학기술 분야의 최신 동향을 공유하는 권위 있는 행사가 대전에서 열리게 된 점에 대해 깊은 의미를 부여했다.
