국민의힘 충남도당 공천관리위원회(이하 공관위)가 제9회 전국동시지방선거를 앞두고 충남 지역 광역의원과 기초의원 단수 신청 지역에 대한 후보자 공천을 마무리 지었다.
공관위는 8일 광역의원 21개 선거구와 기초의원 7개 선거구에서 단독으로 공천을 신청한 후보자 28명을 최종 확정했다고 밝혔다. 이번 공천은 지난 3월 5일부터 8일까지 진행된 온라인 접수와 14일 실시된 후보자 면접 결과를 토대로 이루어졌다.
공관위 측은 서류 심사와 대면 면접 등 엄격한 과정을 통해 후보자의 역량과 자질을 공정하고 객관적으로 검증했으며, 결격 사유가 없는 단수 신청자들을 대상으로 최종 후보를 낙점했다고 설명했다.
광역의원 공천이 확정된 선거구는 천안(1·2·4·5·6·7·9·10·11), 아산(1·2·4), 당진(1·2)을 포함해 공주2, 보령2, 서산2, 논산1, 홍성1, 예산1, 태안2 등 총 21곳이다. 기초의원의 경우 천안 나·아, 서산 다·라·바, 태안 가, 홍성 나 등 7개 지역의 후보자가 확정됐다.
이날 발표된 명단은 향후 충남도당 운영위원회의 의결을 거치게 된다. 이후 중앙당 최고위원회의 최종 승인을 얻으면 제9회 지방선거에 나설 국민의힘 공식 후보로서의 자격을 갖추게 된다.
