대전 유성구가 인공지능(AI) 기술을 구정 전반에 도입하여 주민들이 일상에서 과학의 혜택을 직접 체감할 수 있는 ‘미래 선도형 과학도시’ 조성에 본격적으로 나선다.
8일 발표된 ‘2026년 유성구 과학업무 추진계획’에 따르면, 유성구는 급변하는 디지털 환경에서 소외되는 구민이 없도록 디지털 격차 해소와 지역 사회의 자생력 강화에 행정력을 집중할 방침이다.
이를 위해 청년, 진잠, 용산 등 3개 거점에 위치한 ‘디지털 전환(DX) 지원 센터’를 중심으로 세대별 맞춤형 교육 프로그램을 대폭 확대하고, 청년들에게는 AI 실무 역량을 키워주고, 경력단절 인력에게는 재취업에 실질적인 도움이 되는 디지털 직무 교육을 권역별로 제공한다.
특히 대덕연구개발특구와의 협력을 강화하여 지역 혁신 생태계를 활성화한다는 계획이다.
혁신적인 기술을 보유한 창업기업들이 유성구 전역을 시험장으로 활용하는 ‘테스트베드 실증 지원’을 활성화하여, 도시 문제를 해결할 최첨단 기술을 발굴하고 이를 실제 행정 현장에 도입함으로써 기업 성장과 주민 편익 증진이라는 두 마리 토끼를 잡겠다는 구상이다.
또한 과학이 모든 세대의 즐거움이 될 수 있도록 생애주기별 맞춤형 콘텐츠도 체계화 하고, 유아기 아이들을 위한 ‘나DO나DO’ 놀이 과학 교육을 시작으로, 초·중학생 대상의 진로 탐색 프로그램인 ‘유성 스타패스(STAR_PATH)’, 고등학생을 위한 과학 연구 멘토링 ‘유성 스타랩(STAR-LAB)’을 운영하여 미래 과학 인재를 육성한다.
디지털 기기 사용에 어려움을 겪는 어르신들을 위해서는 키오스크 이용법 등을 알려주는 ‘유성 디지털 투어(꽃보다 디지털)’를 운영해 누구나 디지털 혜택을 누리는 포용 도시를 실현한다.
