(무안=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자=전라남도가 의료 사각지대에 놓인 외국인 주민들을 위해 ‘외국인 안심병원’을 대폭 확대하고, 민·관·학 협력을 통한 촘촘한 의료 지원 체계 구축에 나섰다.
전남도는 지난 8일 ‘전남 외국인주민 의료지원 실무협의체’ 회의를 개최하고, 지난해 전국 최초로 도입한 ‘외국인 안심병원’의 운영 활성화 및 협력 기반 강화 방안을 논의했다고 밝혔다.
이번 협의체에는 전남도의사회 의료봉사단, 공공의료기관, 이주민 지원단체, 대학 등 총 26개 기관이 참여했다. 특히 올해는 ▲씨젠의료재단 ▲여수시 가족센터 ▲전남사회복지공동모금회 ▲목포대학교 간호학과 등 4개 기관이 신규로 합류하며 더욱 탄탄한 지원 기반을 마련했다.
‘전라남도 외국인 안심병원’은 건강보험 혜택을 받지 못하는 외국인 주민의 진료비 부담을 덜어주기 위해 전남도가 광역지자체 중 처음으로 추진 중인 사업이다.
전남도는 지난해 22개 시군 75개 의료기관을 안심병원으로 지정했으며, 올해는 종합병원 26개소가 모두 참여하고 32개소가 신규 지정돼 총 107개소로 확대됐다.
또한 외국인근로자의 3대 의료 취약 분야인 산업재해, 감염병, 정신건강 관리를 위해 근로복지공단 순천병원, 국립목포병원, 국립나주병원 등 전문 공공의료기관 3곳도 참여해 전문성을 높였다. 이로써 전남도는 전국 최대 규모의 외국인 의료협력 네트워크를 갖추게 되었다.
