더불어민주당 서천군수 후보 경선에서 유승광 예비후보가 최종 후보로 확정되며 본선행 티켓을 거머쥐었다.

7일부터 9일까지 3일간 진행된 이번 경선은 민주당 당원과 일반 군민을 대상으로 ARS 및 문자 투표 방식으로 치러졌다. 

유승광 후보는 경선 직후 “저를 지지해 주신 모든 당원과 군민께 진심으로 감사드린다”며 “오는 6월 지방선거에서 반드시 승리해 보답하겠다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

유 후보는 “서천은 지금 그 어느 때보다 경제적으로 어려운 시기를 겪고 있다”며 “군민에게 희망을 전하고 지역에 활력을 불어넣을 수 있는 실질적 정책과 공약으로 본선을 준비하겠다”고 다짐했다.

또한 함께 경선을 치른 전익현 후보에게 경의와 감사의 뜻을 전하며 “전익현 후보님은 민주당의 소중한 자산이자 훌륭한 동반자”라며 “전 후보의 정책과 비전까지 함께 품어 서천의 승리를 위한 ‘원팀’ 정신을 완성하겠다”고 밝혔다.

유승광 후보는 이번 지방선거에서 ‘서천형 기본소득’, ‘금강하구 생태복원’, ‘해양바이오 클러스터 구축’을 핵심 공약으로 내세워 지역 혁신을 약속했다. 그는 “서천이 가진 자원과 잠재력을 촘촘히 연결해 새로운 성장의 길을 열겠다”고 강조했다.

유 후보의 경선 승리로 민주당의 서천군수 선거전은 본격적인 본선 단계로 접어들었다.
