전문학 더불어민주당 대전 서구청장 예비후보가 8일 “신설 예정인 우주항공청 산하 ‘우주항공산업진흥원’을 반드시 대전 서구에 유치해야 한다”고 주장했다.
전 예비후보는 “진흥원은 연구과제 관리, 기술이전, 사업화, 창업 육성 등 우주항공 분야의 산업 생태계를 뒷받침하는 핵심 기관”이라며 “전국 단위의 협력이 이뤄질 만큼 파급효과가 큰 만큼, 입지 선정은 정치적 고려가 아닌 기능성과 접근성이 중심이 되어야 한다”고 강조했다.

그는 “방위사업청이 2028년 정부대전청사 인근으로 이전하면 기존 건물이 유휴 공간으로 남는다”며 “이 부지를 활용하면 별도의 신축 없이 즉시 진흥원을 가동할 수 있고, 예산 절감과 속도 두 마리 토끼를 잡을 수 있다”고 설명했다.
