Operation of the ‘Yangju Hoeamsa Temple Site! The Breath of a Royal Temple! Bringing Back the World Heritage’ Program
Yangju Municipal Hoeamsa Temple Site Museum Uses Program as an Opportunity to Enhance Understanding of Local Cultural Heritage and Spread Its Preservation Value
[Break News Yangju = Reporter Kim Wan-young] As part of the regional national heritage education revitalization project funded by lottery funds, the Yangju Municipal Hoeamsa Temple Site Museum in Gyeonggi Province is operating an educational program titled ‘Yangju Hoeamsa Temple Site! The Breath of a Royal Temple! Bringing It Back to World Heritage,’ focusing on the history of the Yangju Hoeamsa Temple Site and surrounding cultural heritage.
This program will be conducted over a total of 40 sessions targeting preschoolers, elementary, middle, and high school students, and general citizens, and is divided into school visit and field experience formats.
The school visit format for elementary students, ‘Hoeam and the Royal Temple Treasure Hunt!’, will be conducted through activities such as making 3D video experience tools and building stupas.
"Reviving Royal Temple Treasures with Hoeam," aimed at middle and high school students, includes exploring artifacts excavated from the Hoeamsa Temple Site as well as hands-on experience creating artifacts using 3D pens and plaster.
The field-experience programs, "Visiting Royal Temple Treasures with Todam" and "Visiting Archaeological Eco+History Tour with Todam," operate by linking the Hoeamsa Temple Site, the museum, and cultural heritage sites in the Cheonbosan Mountain area; these programs are open not only to students but also to families and the general public.
In particular, following last year, the museum is once again prioritizing vulnerable groups within Yangju City—such as small schools, multicultural families, and organizations for the disabled—to focus on increasing accessibility to national heritage education.
A museum official stated, "We expect this program to serve as an opportunity to enhance understanding of local cultural heritage and spread awareness of its preservation value."
The programs will run until November of this year, and applications can be made by phone (☎ 031-875-1980) or email (supdam4u@naver.com). kwy160901@hanmail.net
