President Lee Heung-gyu: “As a public enterprise, we will strive to realize social values and provide better services for the transportationally vulnerable.”
[Break News Yangju = Reporter Kim Wan-young] The Yangju Urban Development Corporation (President Lee Heung-gyu) in Gyeonggi Province announced that it conducted the ‘Happy Companion Trip’ for the transportationally vulnerable and their parents in Yangju City on the 4th.
The Happy Companion Trip is a program designed for the transportationally vulnerable and their parents in Yangju City who usually lack outdoor activities or have difficulty moving. Adopted as a proposal system by the corporation in 2018, it is conducted annually, and reflecting user feedback, the frequency of operations has been expanded from the existing two times a year to three times starting this year.
This "Happy Companion Trip" marked the first event of 2026, with 10 families (11 individuals with mobility impairments and 10 parents) participating. With staff and transportation provided by the Corporation, the trip took place at the Jangheung Tourist Site in Yangju City. It was a meaningful event designed to foster communication with the mobility impairments through healing programs featuring cultural, scientific, and historical experiences.
In particular, this trip was organized as a significant occasion to celebrate the arrival of warm spring weather, allowing individuals with mobility impairments and their parents to enjoy outdoor activities together while spending time resting and communicating.
Participants in the trip expressed their gratitude, stating, "It is usually difficult to participate in outdoor activities, but through this trip, we were able to spend precious time with our families," and added, "We are thankful to the Yangju Urban Development Corporation for providing this wonderful opportunity."
President Lee Heung-gyu stated, "As a public enterprise, we will continue to strive to realize social values and provide better services for the mobility impairments."
