더불어민주당 내 대표적인 '험지 전사'로 통하는 김부겸 전 국무총리(현 대구시장 후보)가 충남도지사 경선 결선을 앞둔 양승조 예비후보에게 전폭적인 지지 메시지를 보내며 당원들의 결집을 호소했다.
김 전 총리는 응원 영상을 통해 양승조 후보와의 특별한 인연과 신뢰를 공개했다.
그는 지난 2024년 총선 당시 중앙당 선거대책위원장으로서 충남 홍성·예산을 방문했던 기억을 떠올리며, "자신의 정치적 기반인 천안을 내려놓고 민주당의 불모지로 뛰어들어 꿋꿋이 사투를 벌이던 양 후보의 모습에 깊은 감명을 받았다"고 밝혔다.
