대전의 여름밤을 뜨겁게 달굴 ‘2026 대전 0시 축제’가 본격적인 행보를 시작했다. 대전시는 10일 시청 대회의실에서 행사 운영 대행 용역 착수보고회를 열고, 올해 축제의 밑그림을 공개했다.
이장우 대전시장과 축제추진위원들이 참석한 가운데 열린 이번 보고회에서는 축제의 핵심 방향과 세부 프로그램에 대한 용역사의 발표가 이어졌다. 올해로 4회째를 맞이하는 ‘대전 0시 축제’는 시민 편의를 높이고 경제적 효과를 극대화하기 위해 운영 방식을 대폭 개선한 것이 특징이다.
가장 큰 변화는 축제 공간의 최적화다. 기존 중앙로역과 대전역 두 곳으로 분산됐던 특설무대를 중앙로역 무대로 일원화해 운영 효율성을 확보한다. 대신 대전역 구간은 개방형 공간으로 조성해 가족 단위 방문객을 위한 '레트로 놀이동산'을 꾸밀 예정이다.
먹거리존에는 상권별 맞춤형 공연을 위한 소규모 무대를 추가로 배치해 상생의 의미를 더했다.
우리들공원 일대는 사전행사 기간부터 체험과 휴식이 공존하는 '복합 문화행사 공간'으로 변신해 방문객들에게 풍성한 즐길 거리를 제공한다.
주요 프로그램으로는 시민 참여형 퍼레이드, 글로벌 K-POP 경연대회, 미래과학체험관, 실감형 4D 어트랙션, 꿈씨패밀리 테마 포토존 등이 마련되어 세대를 아우르는 축제를 예고했다.
대전시는 지난 3년간의 운영 경험을 토대로 ‘안전사고·쓰레기·바가지요금’이 없는 ‘3무(無) 축제’ 기조를 올해도 철저히 유지할 계획이다. 이를 통해 국내 지역 축제의 모범 사례로서의 위상을 굳건히 다진다는 방침이다.
이장우 시장은 “0시 축제는 침체된 원도심 경제에 활력을 불어넣기 위해 기획된 만큼, 지속 가능한 글로벌 축제로 자리 잡아야 한다”며 “축제가 중단될 경우 이제 막 살아나기 시작한 원도심 상권이 다시 위태로워질 수 있는 만큼 철저한 준비가 필요하다”고 강조했다.
‘2026 대전 0시 축제’는 오는 8월 7일부터 17일까지 11일간 대전역에서 옛 충남도청에 이르는 중앙로 및 원도심 상권 일원에서 펼쳐진다. 본행사를 위해 중앙로 구간은 8월 12일부터 18일까지 차량 통행이 전면 통제될 예정이다.
