대전 유성구가 일상 속 녹지 공간 확대를 위한 ‘정원도시’ 조성 사업에 본격적인 닻을 올렸다.
유성구는 10일 구청 대회의실에서 ‘정원도시 유성 조성 기본계획 수립 및 실시설계’ 최종보고회를 개최하고, 전민동과 죽동, 상대동 등 3곳을 도심 속 생활 정원 조성지로 최종 확정했다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 산림청으로부터 확보한 국비 등 총 50억 원이 투입되는 1단계 프로젝트다. 도심 내 방치된 유휴부지를 주민 밀착형 휴식 공간으로 탈바꿈시켜 자연과 도심이 어우러지는 생태 환경을 구축하는 것이 핵심이다.
유성구는 그동안 발굴한 89개의 후보지 중 접근성과 활용도 등을 종합 평가해 지역별 특색을 살린 3가지 테마 정원을 선정했다.
먼저 전민동에는 ‘시간의 숲 정원’ 들어선다.
인근 선비마을의 역사적 맥락을 이어받아 매화, 난초 등 사군자를 테마로 한 전통미와 현대적 감각이 조화된 공간으로 꾸며진다. 사계절의 흐름을 느낄 수 있는 식재 경관을 통해 도심 속 명상과 휴식을 제공할 예정이다.
죽동에 조성될 ‘바람결 오감정원’은 바람의 흐름을 시각화하고 청각·촉각 등 오감을 자극하는 체험형 정원이다. 바람에 흔들리는 식물과 시설물을 배치하고, 계절별로 색채가 변하는 정원을 구성해 주민들이 직접 자연과 교감할 수 있도록 설계됐다.
상대동 ‘별꽃잎 만개정원’은 주거 단지와 진잠천을 잇는 가교 역할을 맡는다. 다양한 야생화단과 구간별 색채 테마를 도입해 주민 커뮤니티 거점이자 지역의 대표적인 경관 명소로 육성할 방침이다.
정용래 유성구청장은 “이번에 확정된 3개소 정원은 유성구가 정원도시로 나아가는 중요한 이정표가 될 것”이라며 “단순한 녹지 조성을 넘어 주민의 삶의 질을 높이고 도시 전체에 활력을 불어넣는 지속 가능한 정원 문화를 확산시켜 나가겠다”고 전했다.
유성구는 이번 최종보고회 결과를 바탕으로 즉시 착공에 들어가, 주민들이 이른 시일 내에 도심 속 정원의 여유를 만끽할 수 있도록 사업 추진에 속도를 낼 계획이다.
