【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충주시는 오는 4월 17일부터 19일까지 3일간 충주댐 물문화관 일원에서 ‘제13회 충주호 벚꽃축제’가 충주시사회단체연합회(회장 임청) 주관으로 개최된다고 14일 밝혔다.
올해 축제는 기상 여건 및 이상기후로 인한 벚꽃 개화 시기 변동을 종합적으로 고려해 예년 대비 약 3주 정도 연기해 개최된다.
다만, 올해는 예년보다 이른 개화로 인해 축제 기간 중 왕벚나무 벚꽃의 상당 부분이 낙화할 것으로 예상된다.
이에 따라 축제 기간에는 겹벚꽃과 함께 다채롭게 피어나는 봄 새싹이 어우러져 충주호 일대에 봄기운을 이어갈 전망이다.
특히 겹벚꽃은 풍성한 꽃잎과 선명한 색감으로 봄 경관을 한층 돋보이게 하는 것이 특징이다.
행사 기간에는 △충주호 사랑다짐대회 △벚꽃길 걷기대회 △충주호에 꽃핀 동심 사생대회 △제2회 충주호 전국가요제 등 다양한 공연과 체험프로그램이 운영된다.
물문화관 내에서는 토요일(펫 다이어리)과 일요일(미나리) 오후 2시 무료영화 상영이 진행되며, 물문화관 야외 플리마켓에서는 지역 농산물 판매가 이뤄진다.
이와 함께 달고나 만들기, 손수건 물들이기, 페이스페인팅, 풍선 아트 등 가족 단위 방문객을 위한 체험 행사도 마련된다.
또한 방문객 불편 해소를 위해 4월 18일과 19일 이틀간 오전 10시부터 오후 6시까지 셔틀버스를 운영할 예정이다.
임청 회장은 “이번 축제는 이상기후에 대응해 겹벚꽃이 가장 아름답게 피는 시기에 맞춰 준비했다”며 “충주호를 배경으로 한 겹벚꽃의 색다른 봄 정취를 즐길 수 있을 것”이라고 말했다.
