【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=서원대학교는 극동대학교, 충북보건과학대학교와 함께 13일부터 15일까지 인도네시아 중부자바주의 주도 스마랑(Semarang)에서 ‘글로벌 인재 유치를 위한 유학박람회’를 개최했다.
서원대학교가 주관한 이번 박람회는 지역혁신중심 대학지원체계(RISE) 연합형 과제로 추진됐으며, 특히 2024년부터 서원대학교와 중부자바 주정부가 지속적으로 협의해 온 ‘장학 프로그램’의 결실이라는 점에서 의미가 깊다.
중부자바 주정부는 한국 유학을 희망하는 고교생과 졸업생을 대상으로 6개월 이상 한국어 교육 과정을 운영하고 있다. 해당 과정은 유학 전 단계에서 언어 역량과 학업 의지를 확인하는 사전 준비 과정으로 활용되고 있다.
박람회에서는 대학별 입학 안내와 1:1 상담을 비롯해 서원대학교 한국어교육센터가 주관하는 모의 TOPIK 시험, 한국어 학습 방법 안내 등이 진행됐다. 현장에는 한국 유학을 희망하는 학생들이 다수 참여했으며, 예정된 질의응답 시간을 넘어 연장 운영될 정도로 높은 관심을 보였다.
행사 마지막 날에는 중부자바 주정부 및 교육청 관계자들과 실무 협의를 진행하고 충북 지역 대학 진학과 이후 정주로 이어질 수 있는 협력 방안을 논의했다.
이영은 서원대 국제교류처장은 “현지 정부와 연계한 유학 프로그램 운영 가능성을 확인했다”라며 “RISE 프로그램을 통해 검증된 해외 인력을 유치함으로써, 유학생의 유치부터 교육관리 나아가 지역 기업 취업으로 이어지는 지역 정주의 새로운 표준을 구축하기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”라고 말했다.
