국립공주대학교 장애학생지원센터는 제46회 장애인의 날을 맞아 15일 공주캠퍼스 마루공원에서 대학 구성원과 지역 주민들이 함께하는 ‘장애인식 개선 캠페인’을 개최했다.
이번 행사는 장애인에 대한 편견을 해소하고 긍정적인 인식을 확산시키기 위해 다채로운 체험 프로그램과 전시, 공연으로 꾸며졌다.
특히 이번 캠페인은 대학 내 기관은 물론 지역사회 복지시설들이 대거 참여하는 ‘민·학 협력형’ 행사로 치러져 의미를 더했다.
참여 기관들은 각자의 전문성을 살린 부스를 운영하며 지역 내 장애인 지원 사업을 알리는 동시에 장애인 권익 향상을 위한 한목소리를 냈다.
행사장 곳곳에서는 장애인의 일상을 간접적으로 경험하고 이해할 수 있는 실질적인 프로그램들이 방문객들의 발길을 붙잡았다.
자원봉사센터는 점자를 활용한 수링클 만들기 체험을 진행해 참가자들이 시각장애인의 언어인 점자를 친숙하게 접할 수 있도록 도왔다.
특수교육과 학생회는 장애 이해 체험 부스를 직접 운영하며 수어 공연을 두 차례 선보여 큰 박수갈채를 받았다.
음악과 손짓이 어우러진 공연은 장애가 소통의 단절이 아닌 ‘또 다른 언어’임을 상기시키는 감동적인 장면을 연출했다.
아울러 충청남도남부장애인종합복지관과 공주시장애인종합복지관, 사회복지법인 명주원은 점자 이름표 제작 체험을 제공하는 한편, 시설 거주 장애인들이 정성껏 그린 미술 작품들을 전시하기도 했다.
