16일 속초시에 따르면, 올해 첫 크루즈 선박인 미국 홀랜드 아메리카 라인(Holland America Line) 소속 ‘웨스테르담(Westerdam)’호가 오는 18일 오전 10시 속초항 국제크루즈터미널에 입항한다고 밝혔다.

웨스테르담호는 8만 2,862톤급(전장 285m)의 대형 프리미엄 크루즈로, 승객과 승무원을 포함해 최대 3,182명이 탑승할 수 있는 매머드급 선박이다. 특히 지난 2023년부터 매년 1~2회씩 꾸준히 속초항을 기항하고 있는 ‘단골 선박’으로, 속초시의 우수한 인프라와 뛰어난 관광 매력을 전 세계에 알리는 핵심적인 역할을 하고 있다. 이번 항차에는 일본 하카타와 후쿠오카를 거쳐 약 2천여 명의 외국인 관광객을 싣고 속초항을 찾으며, 당일 오후 8시 다음 목적지인 일본 가나자와로 출항한다.
