【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 증평군은 증평초등학교 일원에 통학버스 전용 승·하차 시설을 조성하는 ‘증평초등학교 통학버스 승하차장 설치사업’을 본격 추진하고 있다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 교육발전특구 사업의 일환으로 추진되는 통학환경 개선 프로젝트로, 학생들의 안전한 등하굣길 확보와 향후 통학버스 운영 기반 마련을 목표로 한다.
총사업비는 6억 원(국비 1억 원·군비 5억 원)이 투입된다.
그동안 증평초등학교 주변은 통학버스 승·하차 공간이 별도로 마련돼 있지 않아 등교 차량과 출퇴근 차량이 뒤섞이며 등·하교 시간대 교통 혼잡이 반복돼 왔다.
이에 군은 학교 인근 도로와 유휴 부지를 활용해 통학버스 전용 승·하차 구역을 조성하고, 보행자와 차량 동선을 분리하는 방식으로 학생 중심의 통학 인프라를 구축할 계획이다.

사업은 지난 2월 실시설계를 완료한 뒤 4월 9일 착공했으며, 7월 7일 준공을 목표로 추진되고 있다.
군은 사업 추진 과정에서도 현장 점검과 관계기관 협의를 통해 공사 품질과 안전관리에도 만전을 기할 방침이다.
군 관계자는 “현재 공사로 인해 학교 주변 통행에 일부 불편이 있을 수 있어 주민과 학부모들의 양해를 부탁드린다”며 “사업을 차질 없이 마무리해 학생들이 보다 안전하고 편리하게 통학할 수 있는 환경을 조성하겠다”고 말했다.
