(재)달성문화재단은 지난 17일부터 19일까지 국립대구과학관 광장과 비슬산 유스호스텔 일원에서 열린 제30회 비슬산 참꽃문화제에 약 10만 명의 관람객이 방문한 것으로 추산된다고 20일 밝혔다.
특히 올해는 예년보다 참꽃 개화 상태가 절정에 이르며 전국적인 관심을 끌어모은 것으로 평가된다.
올해 축제는 기존 비슬산 자락에서 국립대구과학관 광장으로 주 행사장을 옮겨 처음 개최됐다. 산간 지역의 공간적 제약을 벗어나 접근성을 크게 높이면서 유모차를 동반한 가족 단위 방문객부터 노년층까지 전 세대가 함께 즐기는 축제로 자리매김했다는 평가다.
축제 첫날인 17일 열린 기념행사에서는 지역 예술인과 달성군립합창단의 식전 공연을 시작으로 대표 프로그램인 ‘참꽃 비빔밥 퍼포먼스’가 진행돼 분위기를 달궜다.
이어 노라조, 조성모, 장윤정 등 인기 가수들의 축하 공연이 펼쳐지며 관람객들에게 특별한 추억을 선사했다. 기상 악화로 예정됐던 불꽃쇼는 취소됐지만, 참꽃 군락지의 하루를 형상화한 미디어파사드가 아쉬움을 달랬다.
18일부터 이틀간 이어진 본행사에서는 지역 문화예술인 상설 공연과 달성군 농·특산물 판매 부스, 먹거리 장터 등이 운영돼 풍성한 즐길거리를 제공했다.
축제 기간 무료 셔틀버스를 집중 운행해 행사장 접근성을 높이고 교통 혼잡과 주차 불편을 줄이는 데도 효과를 거뒀다. 방문객들은 보다 편리하고 안전하게 축제를 즐길 수 있었다는 반응을 보였다.
최재훈 달성군수는 “제30회를 맞은 비슬산 참꽃문화제는 자연과 문화, 지역경제가 공존하는 달성군의 대표 브랜드로 자리 잡았다”며 “앞으로도 축제의 전통을 계승하면서 더욱 내실 있는 콘텐츠를 선보이겠다”고 말했다.
한편 비슬산 참꽃 군락지는 현재 만개한 상태로, 기상 여건에 따라 이번 주말을 지나 다음 주 초까지 절정의 개화가 이어질 것으로 전망된다.

Meanwhile, the azalea colonies on Mt. Biseul are currently in full bloom, and depending on weather conditions, the peak bloom is expected to continue through this weekend and into early next week.
