(무안=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자=전라남도가 제46회 장애인의 날(4월 20일)을 맞아 열린 정부포상에서 역대 최다인 7명의 수상자를 배출하며 전남 장애인 복지의 저력을 증명했다. 특히 전남은 이번 시상식의 핵심인 훈장과 포장 부문에서 전체 6점 중 절반인 3점을 휩쓰는 쾌거를 거뒀다.
20일 오전 서울에서 개최된 ‘제46회 장애인의 날 기념식’에는 김민석 국무총리와 정은경 보건복지부 장관을 비롯해 장애인 복지 유공자 및 가족 등 300여 명이 참석했다. 이날 행사에서는 장애인 권익 증진과 복지 향상에 헌신한 17명에게 정부포상이 전수됐다.
전남 지역에서는 임흥빈 전라남도장애인단체총연합회 대표가 장애인 복지 발전과 권익 보호를 위한 다양한 사업을 발굴·시행한 공로를 인정받아 국민훈장 모란장을 수훈하는 영예를 안았다.
이어 국민포장 부문에서는 2명의 수상자가 이름을 올렸다.
김종택 한국지체장애인협회전남협회장은 장애인 권익 증진, 나눔문화 확산, 장애인 자립 기반 확산 공로로 국민포장을, 박현실 목포장애인요양원 행정지원과장은 전문성을 발휘한 중증장애아동과 중증와상장애인 돌봄 공로로 국민포장을 각각 받았다.
이외에도 허준 동악포장재사업소 시설장, 김성태 한국지체장애인협회 전남협회 완도군지회장, 백은진 전남도 주무관, 조재율 곡성군 주무관 등 4명이 보건복지부 장관 표창을 받았다.
전남도는 이번 성과가 현장에서 묵묵히 헌신해 온 장애인 단체와 복지시설 종사자들의 노력이 국가적으로 공인받은 결과라고 평가했다. 이는 전남의 장애인 복지 행정 역량이 전국 최고 수준임을 보여주는 지표로 풀이된다.
나소영 전남도 장애인복지과장은 “이번 수상은 현장에서 땀 흘린 유공자들이 맺은 값진 결실”이라며 “수상 성과에 안주하지 않고 앞으로도 장애인의 삶의 질 향상과 권익 증진을 위해 정책적 노력을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 전남도는 오는 4월 28일 장성군 홍길동체육관에서 ‘제46회 장애인의 날’ 도 단위 기념식을 개최할 예정이다. 이번 행사는 장애인 단체 회원과 도민들이 참여한 가운데 유공자 표창, 장애 인식 개선 캠페인 등 화합의 장으로 꾸며진다.

A Total of 7 Recipients, Including Representative Im Heung-bin with Order of Merit Mugunghwa… Elevating the Status of Regional Welfare for the Disabled
(Muan = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = South Jeolla Province demonstrated the strength of its disability welfare by producing a record-breaking seven recipients at the government awards ceremony held to mark the 46th Day of Persons with Disabilities (April 20). In particular, South Jeolla achieved a remarkable feat by sweeping three out of the six total awards in the medal and decoration categories, which are the core of the ceremony.
Approximately 300 people attended the ‘46th Day of Persons with Disabilities Commemoration Ceremony,’ held in Seoul on the morning of the 20th, including Prime Minister Kim Min-suk, Minister of Health and Welfare Jeong Eun-kyeong, as well as distinguished contributors to disability welfare and their families. At the event, government awards were presented to 17 individuals who have dedicated themselves to promoting the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities. In the Jeonnam region, Lim Heung-bin, Representative of the Jeollanam-do Federation of Organizations for the Disabled, was honored with the Order of Merit, Mugunghwa Medal, in recognition of his contributions in discovering and implementing various projects for the development of welfare and the protection of rights for the disabled.
Following this, two recipients were named in the National Commendation category.
Kim Jong-taek, President of the Jeonnam Association of the Korea Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities, received the National Commendation for his contributions to promoting the rights of the disabled, spreading a culture of sharing, and expanding the foundation for their independence. Park Hyun-sil, Head of the Administrative Support Division at the Mokpo Nursing Home for the Disabled, also received the National Commendation for her professional expertise in caring for severely disabled children and severely bedridden individuals.
In addition, four individuals received commendations from the Minister of Health and Welfare: Heo Jun, Facility Manager of the Dongak Packaging Materials Business Office; Kim Seong-tae, President of the Wando County Branch of the Jeonnam Association of the Korea Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities; Baek Eun-jin, a principal officer of Jeollanam-do; and Jo Jae-yul, a principal officer of Gokseong County. Jeonnam Province assessed that this achievement is the result of national recognition for the dedicated efforts of disability organizations and welfare facility staff who have silently devoted themselves to the field. This is interpreted as an indicator that Jeonnam’s administrative capacity for disability welfare is at the highest level in the nation.
Na So-young, Head of the Disability Welfare Division of Jeonnam Province, stated, “This award is a valuable fruit achieved by those who have worked tirelessly in the field,” adding, “We will not rest on our laurels but will continue to spare no policy efforts to improve the quality of life and promote the rights and interests of people with disabilities.”
Meanwhile, Jeonnam Province plans to hold a provincial-level commemorative ceremony for the “46th Day of Persons with Disabilities” at the Hong Gil-dong Gymnasium in Jangseong-gun on April 28. The event will be a venue for harmony, featuring awards for distinguished contributors and campaigns to improve disability awareness, with the participation of members of disability organizations and provincial residents.
