【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 증평지역자활센터는 지난 15일 보강천 일대에서 새마을문고중앙회 증평군지부(회장 강미영)와 함께 EM 흙공 던지기 ‘파워 희망공’ 활동과 ‘줍깅데이’ 행사를 동시에 진행했다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 하천 수질 정화와 지역 환경 개선을 목표로 마련됐다.
행사에는 자활센터 종사자와 자활근로 참여자, 새마을문고중앙회 회원 등이 참여해 직접 만든 EM 흙공을 보강천에 투척하며 수질 개선 활동을 펼쳤다.
EM(유용미생물)이 포함된 흙공은 하천에 투입되면 미생물의 작용을 통해 수질 정화와 악취 저감에 도움을 주는 것으로 알려져 있다.

참가자들은 보강천 산책로와 주변 하천변을 따라 쓰레기를 수거하는 ‘줍깅데이(줍기+조깅)’ 활동도 함께 진행하며 탄소중립 실천과 생활 속 환경 보호의 의미를 더했다.
박경화 센터장은 “매년 지역 환경 개선 활동에 함께해 주시는 새마을문고중앙회 회원들과 자활 참여자분들께 감사드린다”며 “앞으로도 다양한 환경보호 활동을 통해 깨끗한 지역 환경 조성에 보탬이 될 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
