충주시지체장애인총연합회(회장 엄창수)가 주최하고 충주시장애인협의회와 장애인의 날 추진위원회(공동위원장 엄창수, 홍석주)가 주관한 이번 행사는 ‘당연한 일상, 모두가 누릴 수 있도록’이라는 슬로건 아래 장애인과 돌봄 종사자 등 1,000여 명이 참석했다.
기념식에서는 장애인 복지 증진에 기여한 봉사자와 시설 종사자, 공무원 등 유공자 59명에게 표창이 수여됐으며, 충주시 장애인 후원회(회장 박용창)는 장애 학생 6명에게 총 300만 원의 장학금을 전달하며 온정을 나눴다.
특히 이날 행사는 휠체어 이용 장애인을 위한 별도 식사석을 마련하고 자원봉사자 배식을 지원하는 등 세심한 배려로 눈길을 끌었다.
2부 행사에서는 택견 시연, 마술 공연, 장애인 단체 장기자랑 등이 이어져 화합의 분위기를 고조시켰다.
