대전 유성구가 급변하는 교통 환경에 대응하고 보행자가 안심하고 걸을 수 있는 도시를 만들기 위해 올해 136억 원 규모의 교통안전 청사진을 내놨다.
유성구는 ‘교통안전을 선도하는 도시 유성’을 비전으로 내건 ‘2026년 교통안전 시행계획’을 수립하고 본격적인 사업 추진에 나선다고 16일 밝혔다. 이번 계획은 교통사고 사망자 감소를 최우선 목표로 삼아 인프라 개선부터 교육 및 행정 지원까지 아우르는 통합 대응 체계를 구축하는 것이 골자다.
올해 투입되는 예산은 총 136억 6,218만 원이다. 구는 이를 활용해 도로교통 시설 개선, 교통약자 보호, 선진 교통문화 정착 등 3개 분야에서 44개 세부 사업을 속도감 있게 진행할 방침이다.

극심한 주차난 해소를 위해 방동 수변공간과 노은유수지 인근에 대형 공영주차장을, 그 외 지역에 임시 공영주차장 2개소를 각각 확충할 계획이다.
교통약자를 위한 맞춤형 안전대책도 강화된다. 어린이·노인·장애인 보호구역의 교통사고 이력과 시설 노후도를 전수 점검하고, 가시성이 높은 ‘노란색 횡단보도’ 설치와 미끄럼 방지 포장, 무단횡단 방지 시설 등 현장 특성에 맞는 시설물을 대폭 보강한다.
특히 전민초등학교를 포함한 8개 학교 주변의 보행로 개선 공사를 통해 아이들의 안전한 등하굣길을 보장할 예정이다.
올바른 교통문화 확산을 위한 노력도 병행한다.
