브레이크뉴스 박동제 기자= 국제개발협력NGO 지파운데이션은 17일 “방송인 유재석이 국내 취약계층 여성청소년을 위해 5천만원을 기부했다”고 밝혔다.
이번 기부는 생리용품 구매와 위생 관리에 어려움을 겪는 여성청소년들이 건강한 일상을 이어갈 수 있도록 지원하고자 진행됐다. 지파운데이션은 전달받은 기부금으로 생리대, 속옷, 여성청결제 등으로 구성된 생리대 키트를 제작해 국내 취약계층 여성청소년에게 전달할 예정이다.
유재석은 지난 2020년 4월 지파운데이션을 통한 기부를 시작으로 인연을 이어오고 있으며, 이번 후원금을 포함해 지금까지 총 4억 원을 기부했다.
7년간 이어진 유재석의 나눔은 여성청소년의 건강한 일상 지원을 비롯해 아동·청소년의 교육 및 영양 지원, 복합 위생 시설 개선 등 다양한 분야에서 도움이 필요한 이들에게 지속적으로 기여하고 있다.
유재석은 “우리 사회의 모든 여성청소년들이 걱정 없이 안전하고 건강한 일상을 이어갈 수 있길 바란다”며 “일상 속 불편으로 인해 아이들이 위축되지 않고 건강하게 성장할 수 있도록, 어른으로서 작지만 따뜻한 응원을 전하고 싶다”고 전했다.
지파운데이션 박충관 대표는 “지속적인 나눔을 통해 생리 빈곤 문제에 관심을 기울여 주고 계신 유재석 님께 진심으로 감사드린다”며 “여성청소년의 건강한 일상은 우리 사회가 함께 책임져야 할 부분인 만큼 도움이 필요한 여성청소년들의 삶의 질 향상을 위해 책임감을 가지고 지원을 이어가겠다”고 말했다.
