[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 거제시가 미국 필라델피아시와 조선산업 협력 강화를 위해 실무대표단을 파견한다.
거제시는 행정국장을 단장으로 한 대표단을 오는 20일부터 24일까지 2박 5일 일정으로 필라델피아에 보내 경제·행정 협력체계 구축과 한미 조선협력(MASGA) 추진 방안을 논의한다고 17일 밝혔다.
이번 방문은 양 도시의 공통 기반인 조선산업을 중심으로 경제·교육·행정 등 분야에서 지속 가능한 협력 모델을 구축하기 위해 추진됐다.
대표단은 필라델피아 시 상무부와 상공회의소 관계자들을 만나 조선기자재 기업의 규제 완화와 인허가 절차 간소화, 관세 예외 적용 등 산업 협력 방안을 협의할 예정이다.
또한 양 도시 간 상시 협의를 위한 ‘거제-필라델피아 실무 워킹그룹’ 구성을 제안하고, 전문 인력 양성을 위한 공동 교육과 도제 프로그램 참여 방안도 논의한다.
현지에 파견되는 조선 기술 인력의 안정적인 정착을 위해 주거·치안·의료·교육 지원과 행정 절차 간소화 방안도 주요 의제로 다룬다.
대표단은 필리조선소와 필라델피아 시의회를 방문해 비자 제도 개선과 이주 환경 개선 필요성을 전달하고, 안전한 근로 여건 조성을 위한 협력을 요청할 계획이다.
거제시는 이번 방문을 계기로 조선산업을 중심으로 한 지방정부 간 협력을 확대하고, 향후 관광·문화 등 다양한 분야로 교류를 넓힌다는 방침이다.
