[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 하동군은 2300억 원 규모의 ‘남해안 중심도시 진교’ 프로젝트의 첫 단추인 진교면 행정문화복합타운 준공식을 16일 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이날 진교면 행정문화복지타운 일원에서 열린 행사에는 주요 내빈과 주민 등 500여 명이 참석해 새로운 출발을 함께했다.
새롭게 조성된 행정문화복합타운은 행정·복지·문화·체육 기능을 한곳에 집약한 복합 공간이다. 기존 노후 청사를 대체해 지상 3층, 연면적 1484㎡ 규모로 확장되었으며, 행정업무 공간에 더해 주민 소통 공간을 대폭 강화했다.
1층에는 주민 휴식과 소통을 위한 카페테리아가 마련됐고, 2층에는 행정업무 공간과 상담실 등이 배치됐다. 3층에는 대·소회의실이 들어서 각종 회의와 교육, 문화 활동이 가능하도록 구성됐다.
한편, 함께 조성된 민다리복합센터(지상 3층, 연면적 2472㎡)에는 수영장과 헬스장 등 생활체육시설이 들어서며 주민들이 가까운 곳에서 건강과 여가를 동시에 챙길 수 있게 됐다.
특히 교육, 모임, 행사 등 다양한 프로그램 운영이 가능해 지역 공동체 활성화의 핵심 공간으로 활용될 전망이다.
이처럼 행정과 문화, 체육 기능이 결합한 복합타운은 주민 일상의 중심을 한곳으로 모으는 ‘컴팩트 생활 인프라’라는 점에서 의미가 크다.
행정문화복합타운 인근에는 보건소와 문화의 집이 있어 여러 시설을 따로 이용해야 했던 불편을 줄이고, 한 공간 안에서 다양한 활동이 이뤄지는 효율적인 생활 환경을 제공하게 된다.
또한 단순한 시설 집적을 넘어, 지역 내 기존 인프라와의 연계도 고려됐다. 사업 추진 중인 진교도서관, 진교면민광장과 정기룡 장군 메모리얼 광장, 지난해 개관한 남부하동노인복지관과 올해 4월 초 문을 연 남부하동 청년센터, 진교파크 골프장, 진교시장 수산물 특화거리와도 하나의 생활권을 형성하며 시너지 효과를 낼 것으로 기대된다.
하동군은 이번 행정문화복합타운을 시작으로 진교를 남부권 중심 생활 거점으로 육성해 나간다는 계획이다.
주민 편의시설 확충은 물론, 고질적 악취 문제의 원인이던 평당지구 축사 철거와 지중화 사업 등을 통해 보행 환경 개선을 개선하고, 행정복합타운 연계 공영주차장을 56면으로 확대 조성할 예정이다.
더불어 진교 청소년 문화의 집 배수장 상부에 77면 규모의 주차장을 추가로 조성하는 등 주차 공간 확대 등 생활 기반도 지속적으로 보완해 나갈 예정이다.
군 관계자는 “진교면 행정문화복합타운은 하나의 시설 준공을 넘어 ‘컴팩트 매력도시’라는 지역 전체의 미래를 여는 본격적인 출발점”이라며, “이곳에서 이루어지는 작은 만남과 활동들이 모여 지역의 큰 변화를 만들어낼 것이라 믿는다”라고 말했다.
한편, 민다리복합센터는 20일부터 개관하고 진교면 행정복지센터는 오는 27일 개청할 예정이다.
