‘안부살핌 우편서비스’는 지역 사정에 밝은 집배원이 정기적으로 생필품이 담긴 우편물을 전달하며 대상자의 안부를 확인하는 사업이다. 배달 과정에서 건강 상태나 주거 환경 등 이상 징후가 발견되면 시에 즉시 알리고, 시는 이를 토대로 맞춤형 복지 서비스를 신속히 연계해 고독사 등 위기 상황을 사전에 예방하게 된다.
안동시는 올해 총 180가구를 대상으로 월 2회 정기 방문을 실시해 연간 3,240건의 안부 확인을 진행할 계획이다. 4월에는 샴푸와 양말 등 생활필수품을 지원하며, 단순 물품 전달을 넘어 고립 가구의 위기 상황을 세밀하게 살피는 데 중점을 둘 방침이다.
특히 이번 사업은 지난해 7월 도입 이후 가시적인 성과를 거두며 효과성을 입증했다. 시는 지난해 월 2회 250명을 대상으로 안부를 확인해 총 124건의 공적·민간 서비스를 연계했으며, 위기 상황에서 신속히 대응해 실제 생명을 구조하는 사례도 발생하는 등 복지 안전망 역할을 수행해 왔다.
안동시 관계자는 “안부살핌 우편서비스를 통해 작은 관심과 안부 확인이 소중한 생명을 지키는 계기가 될 수 있음을 다시 한번 확인했다”며 “앞으로도 지역사회와 협력해 위기가구를 적극 발굴하고 신속한 지원이 이뤄질 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
