[브레이크뉴스=배종채 기자] 숏폼과 릴스 등 디지털 매체 기반 창작자 13인이 제안하는 새로운 서사 구조를 선보인다. 아시아 큐레이터스 포럼 및 세계적 아티스트 그룹 AES+F가 참여하는 작가와의 대화 등 전문적인 학술 행사도 병행한다.
부산시립미술관은 국제 미디어아트 페스티벌인 2026 루프 랩 부산의 메인 전시인 ‘디지털 서브컬처: 디지털 시대의 내러티브와 스토리’를 개최한다. 이번 전시는 인공지능(AI)과 사회관계망서비스(SNS)를 기반으로 활동하는 창작자들의 독특한 세계관을 스마트폰 화면에서 끌어내 미술관 야외 공원과 도심 주요 거점으로 확장한다.
전시에는 나이스앤티스, 아르비주, 메트로노본, 에드 카, 루시아 팜, 차웅산, 린 하네다 × 필 아트 AI, 켈리 보쉬, 리버, 차밍 컴퓨터, 니콜라스 달위츠, 데이비드 사우더, 이오시프 그키니스 등 국내외 창작자 13명이 참여한다. 이들은 시간의 흐름을 따르는 전통적인 선형적 영상 구조에서 벗어나 압축되고 분절된 숏폼 형식을 활용한다. 이는 단순한 정보의 축약을 넘어 관람객이 스스로 이야기를 재구성하고 주체적으로 감응하게 만드는 새로운 예술적 서사 방식으로 기능할 전망이다.
전시는 시민들의 일상 공간 곳곳에서 펼쳐진다. 부산유라시아플랫폼, 부산시청 미디어월, 해운대 유카로빌딩에서는 지난 4월 16일부터 오는 6월 28일까지 작품을 송출한다. 행사의 핵심 무대인 부산시립미술관 야외 조각 공원 전시는 4월 23일(목)부터 5월 24일(일)까지 한 달간 집중적으로 진행한다.

전시의 깊이를 더하는 연계 프로그램도 상세한 일정과 함께 마련한다. 먼저 오는 22일(수) 오전 11시부터 오후 2시까지 도모헌에서 ‘디지털 시대, 아시아의 새로운 사회참여 예술’을 주제로 한 아시아 큐레이터스 포럼이 열려 학술적 담론을 형성한다.
이어 24일(금)에는 세계적인 아티스트들과 직접 소통하는 릴레이 아티스트 토크가 진행된다. 오전 10시 30분 스페이스 원지에서 크리스티나 루카스와 루시아 레볼리노가 참여하는 첫 번째 토크를 시작으로, 오후 12시 30분에는 리앤배 갤러리에서 WHYIXD 작가가 ‘풍경의 해상도’에 대해 논의한다. 마지막으로 오후 3시 F1963 석천홀에서는 세계적인 아티스트 그룹 AES+F가 참여해 미디어 아트의 정수를 공유할 예정이다.
서진석 부산시립미술관장은 이번 전시는 인공지능과 SNS 환경에서 성장한 작가들이 구축한 새로운 서사 구조를 살펴보는 데 의의가 있다며, 이들이 제안하는 감각의 확장은 미디어 예술의 미래를 예측하는 중요한 지표가 될 것이라고 평가했다.
연계 프로그램 신청은 오늘(17일)부터 부산시립미술관 누리집을 통해 선착순으로 접수하며 공석 발생 시 현장 접수도 가능하다. 다만 WHYIXD 작가의 토크는 리앤배 갤러리(051-756-2111)를 통해 별도로 신청해야 한다. 전시에 관한 자세한 내용은 미술관 누리집 또는 루프 랩 부산 공식 누리집에서 확인할 수 있다.

The "2026 Loop Lab Busan" kicks off with 13 digital creators redefining storytelling through AI and social media, extending their works from smartphone screens to the museum's outdoor park and urban landmarks.
The Busan Museum of Art has announced the opening of "Digital Subculture: Narratives and Stories in the Digital Age," a centerpiece of the international media art festival 2026 Loop Lab Busan. This exhibition takes the sensory video content once confined to smartphone screens—such as Shorts and Reels—and expands it into the physical realm of the museum’s outdoor sculpture park and major city hubs.
Building on last year's theme of the democratization of art, this year’s exhibition features 13 visionary creators, including Niceantise, Arbijou, Metronobon, Ed Carr, Lucia Pham, Cha Woong-san, Rin Haneda × Phil Art AI, Kelly Bosch, River, Charming Computer, Nicolas Dalwitz, David Souther, and Iosif Gkynis. These artists move away from traditional linear storytelling, using compressed and fragmented short-form formats to encourage viewers to subjectively reconstruct and interpret narratives, mirroring the shifting cognitive environment of the digital era.
The exhibition's reach extends throughout the city of Busan to engage citizens in their daily lives. While the main showcase at the Museum’s Outdoor Sculpture Park runs from April 23 to May 24, media works are being broadcasted on large-scale digital walls at the Busan Eurasia Platform, Busan City Hall, and the Haeundae Yucaro Building from April 16 through June 28.
A series of high-profile academic and interactive programs will also be held to deepen the discourse. The schedule begins with the Asia Curators Forum on April 22 from 11:00 to 14:00 at Domoheon under the theme Digital Age, Asia’s New Socially Engaged Art, followed by Artist Talk One and Two featuring Cristina Lucas and Lucia Rebolino on April 24 from 10:30 to 12:00 at Space Wonji regarding the collaborative exhibition Shared Stories. The program continues on April 24 with Artist Talk Three by WHYIXD from 12:30 to 14:30 at Lee and Bae Gallery discussing Resolution of Landscape which requires separate registration, and concludes with Artist Talk Four featuring the world-renowned art group AES+F from 15:00 to 17:00 at F1963 Seokcheon Hall.
"While last year focused on the changing environment of creation, this exhibition is significant in examining the new narrative structures built by artists who have grown up with AI and social media," said Seo Jin-seok, Director of the Busan Museum of Art. "The sensory expansion they propose will be a vital touchstone for predicting the future of media art."
