매너리즘과 보신주의에 빠진 대전교육을 살려내겠다는 강력한 의지와 함께 새로운 교육 자치 시대를 열기 위한 전초기지가 문을 열었다.
성광진 대전교육감 예비후보는 18일 서구 용문동에 마련된 선거사무소 ‘동행캠프’ 개소식을 개최하고, 대전교육의 교체와 대전환을 향한 본격적 행보를 시작했다.
이날 개소식 현장은 대전교육의 변화를 갈망하는 지지자들과 지역 정계 인사들이 몰려 인산인해를 이뤘다.
박범계, 장철민, 장종태 국회의원을 비롯해 허태정 더불어민주당 대전시장 예비후보 등 지역의 주요 정치권 인사들이 대거 참석해 성 예비후보에게 힘을 보탰다.
또한 최근 지지 선언과 함께 상임선대위원장직을 맡은 김영진 대전대 교수와 손종학 전 충남대 법학전문대학원장도 자리를 지키며, 성 예비후보의 지지 기반이 진보를 넘어 중도·보수 진영까지 확장되고 있음을 상징적으로 보여줬다.

여기에 미래시민교육원 설립과 평생학습 생태계 구축을 더해 아이들부터 성인까지 전 생애를 책임지는 종합적인 교육 대책을 완성했다는 평가를 받았다.
직접 마이크를 잡고 정책 발표에 나선 성 예비후보는 교육 현장의 현실을 언급하며 변화의 필요성을 강하게 역설했다.
특히 아침마다 학교 앞에서 만나는 아이들의 무거운 가방만큼이나 우리 교육의 현실이 무겁게 느껴진다며, 아이들이 진심으로 행복할 수 있는 교실을 만들기 위해 모든 교육 개혁 세력과 연대해 나갈 것을 약속했다.
