<브레이크뉴스 홍천 = 김일웅 기자> 강원 홍천군이 다가오는 6월 호국보훈의 달을 맞이해 순국선열과 호국영령의 숭고한 넋을 기리고, 참배객들에게 안전하고 쾌적한 추모 환경을 제공하기 위해 관내 현충 시설 11개소에 대한 대대적인 환경 정비에 나선다.

이번 정비 사업은 추념 행사가 집중되는 시기를 앞두고 방문객이 늘어날 것에 대비해, 시설물의 체계적인 유지·관리를 도모하고 이용객들의 편의성을 극대화하고자 추진됐다.
이를 위해 홍천군은 사전 전수조사를 실시하여 각 시설의 안내판 노후 상태, 조형물 파손 여부, 주변 조경 및 경관 등을 현장에서 꼼꼼하게 점검했다.

군은 점검 결과를 바탕으로 세척 작업이 시급한 7개소에 대해 전문 용역 업체와 계약을 맺고 오는 6월 이전까지 환경 정비를 신속히 마무리할 예정이다. 아울러 안내판 교체나 보수, 조경 개선 등 추가적인 정비가 요구되는 시설에 대해서도 단계적으로 보완 작업을 이어나갈 계획이다.
특히, 대규모 추념 행사가 예정되어 있거나 평소 시민들의 발길이 잦은 주요 현충 시설을 최우선 정비 대상으로 삼아 참배객들의 불편을 최소화한다는 방침이다.
홍천군 관계자는 “현충 시설은 우리 지역의 뼈아픈 역사를 기억하고 숭고한 호국 정신을 되새기는 매우 뜻깊은 공간”이라며 “앞으로도 철저한 점검과 지속적인 정비를 통해 시설물의 품질을 최상으로 유지하고, 방문객들이 언제든 편안하고 경건한 마음으로 다녀갈 수 있도록 관리에 만전을 기하겠다”고 밝혔다.
