경북대학교(총장 홍원화)가 다양성위원회를 출범하고, 대학 내 다양성 증진을 위한 본격적인 활동에 나선다.
경북대학교는 지난 30일 본관 3층 제1회의실에서 제1기 다양성위원회 위원 임명·위촉식과 1차 회의를 개최했다.

경북대 다양성위원회는 대학 내 다양성 보호와 증진을 도모하고, 사회 화합 및 발전에 기여하는 대학 문화를 조성하기 위해 설치된 총장 직속의 자문기구로 교수, 학생, 직원, 외부전문가 등 총 15명으로 구성되며, 위원장은 경북대 김유경 교수가 맡았다.
위원회는 양성평등 촉진 등 다양성 보호에 관한 의견 수렴, 다양성 가치 확산을 위한 교육 프로그램을 개발하고 관련 정책 자문 및 제안 등의 역할을 담당할 예정이다.
이와 함께 별도의 T/F를 구성해 교내 다양성 현황 분석 등 관련 연구도 수행할 계획이다.
홍원화 총장은 “국가거점국립대 중 서울대 다음으로 다양성위원회를 설치하게 되었다. 경북대 다양성위원회의 출범을 통해 다양성에 대한 이해와 존중의 바탕 위에서 창조적이고 건강한 대학 공동체가 형성되길 기대한다.”라고 밝혔다.
