<브레이크뉴스 원주 = 김일웅 기자> 강원 원주시가 성장기 아이들의 건강한 식습관 형성을 돕고 지역 농가의 소득 증대를 이끌어내기 위해 두 팔을 걷어붙였다.
원주시는 올 연말까지 관내 초등돌봄교실에 참여하는 1·2학년 학생들을 대상으로 신선하고 안전한 제철 과일간식을 무상으로 지원하는 ‘어린이 과일간식 지원 사업’을 본격 추진한다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업을 통해 학생 1인당 약 100g 분량으로 먹기 좋게 포장된 컵 과일이 연말까지 주 1회, 총 30회 내외로 제공된다. 제공되는 간식은 국내에서 생산된 친환경 농산물 및 농산물우수관리인증(GAP)을 획득한 고품질 과일들로만 엄선된다.

올해 지원 대상은 과일간식 지원 사업을 사전 신청한 관내 초등돌봄교실 운영 41개 학교의 초등학생 2,304명이다.
특히 원주시는 아이들의 입에 들어가는 먹거리인 만큼 안전성 확보에 총력을 기울였다. 시는 강원특별자치도와 함께 꼼꼼한 합동 현장 점검을 실시해 위생과 품질 기준을 완벽하게 충족한 우수 공급업체를 최종 선정했다.
원주시 관계자는 “이번 무상 과일간식 지원이 우리 아동·청소년들의 균형 잡힌 영양 섭취와 건강한 식습관을 형성하는 데 큰 도움이 될 것”이라며, “아울러 고품질 국산 과일의 안정적인 소비처를 확보함으로써 지역 농가의 소득 증대에도 긍정적인 활력을 불어넣을 것으로 기대한다”고 전했다.
