브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 블라디미르 푸틴 러시아 대통령을 상대로 반란을 시도했던 용병단체 바그너그룹 수장 예브게니 프리고진이 사망했다는 외신 보도가 나왔다.
23일(현지시간) 모스크바 서북부 트베리 지역에서 10여명 가량이 탑승한 민간 항공기 추락 사고가 발생했는데, 탑승객 명단에 프리고진이 포함된 것으로 보인다고 러시아 타스통신이 보도했다.
러시아 연방항공교통국(FATA)은 "트레비 지역에서 엠브라에르 항공기 추락 사고가 발생해 조사가 진행 중이다"라며 "탑승자 명단에 예브게니 프리고진이라는 이름이 포함돼 있다"고 설명했다.
바그너그룹도 텔레그램 채널을 통해 "조국의 진정한 애국자인 예브게니 프리고진이 러시아에 반역하는 자들의 행동에 의해 사망했다"고 입장을 밝히기도 했다.
한편 프리고진은 지난 6월 러시아의 우크라이나 전쟁 도중 푸틴 대통령을 상대로 무장 반란을 일으킨 바 있다. 반란은 벨라루스의 중재로 이틀만에 끝났지만, 프리고진의 신변 우려는 계속돼 왔다.

Prigozhin, who rebelled against Putin, presumed dead in plane crash
Foreign media reported that Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of Wagner Group, a mercenary group that attempted to revolt against Russian President Vladimir Putin, died.
