Yangju City, northern Gyeonggi Province's first special-type hydrogen charging station to operate in November
Installed at 7-6 Hoejeong-dong (Hoecheon Nonghyup)… A full-fledged leap forward into a hydrogen city
[Break News Yangju = Reporter Kim Wan-young] Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do (Mayor Kang Soo-hyun) announced that it will begin pilot operation of the ‘Yangju City Special Hydrogen Recharge Station’, the first to be installed in northern Gyeonggi Province, in November.
The ‘Yangju City Special Hydrogen Charging Station’, installed at 7-6, Hoejeong-dong, is a large-capacity charging station capable of supplying more than 200 kg per hour, and can charge an average of 100 commercial vehicles (cargoes, buses) and 350 passenger vehicles per day.
In addition, it takes about 8 to 10 minutes for commercial vehicles and about 3 to 5 minutes for passenger vehicles to fully charge, which is expected to alleviate the inconvenience of hydrogen vehicle users who had to endure long waits.
According to city officials, the plan is to increase charging accessibility for hydrogen vehicle users in neighboring cities and counties, including Dongducheon City, Pocheon City, and Paju City, centered on National Road 3, and to raise citizen awareness of safety through the operation of special hydrogen charging stations.
In addition, the construction of hydrogen charging infrastructure is expected to promote the supply of hydrogen vehicles, leading to an increase in the number of personal hydrogen vehicles and hydrogen vehicles such as buses, cargo, and garbage trucks in the area. Five existing city buses will be replaced with hydrogen buses in line with the operation period of the hydrogen charging station. We plan to lead by example in achieving carbon neutrality in the sector.
Yangju Mayor Kang Soo-hyun said, “The special hydrogen charging station was the first gateway for Yangju City to become a hydrogen city, and along with the construction of the waterweed charging station, we will do our best to distribute and revitalize hydrogen cars, which are eco-friendly vehicles.”
Meanwhile, the 'Yangju City Special Hydrogen Charging Station' was carried out without any burden on city costs with 4.2 billion won in national funds and 1.8 billion won in private capital (Kohizen) invested through the Ministry of Environment's private capital subsidy public offering project, and the charging station site and work were provided by the Hoecheon Agricultural Cooperative in the jurisdiction. With active cooperation, including agreements, the ‘hydrogen charging station construction project’ was successfully completed.
