Park Yong-sun, the People Power Party (PPP) candidate for mayor of Pohang, officially launched his “Grand Unity Furnace Election Committee” on April 18 and moved into full campaign mode.
Park held an appointment ceremony for campaign officials at his election office that afternoon, rallying support and consolidating his organization. Around 200 people attended the event, including lawmakers Kim Jung-jae and Lee Sang-hwi.

“If elected mayor, I will lead with a spirit of grand unity, bringing together business, administration, and politics to revive livelihoods and the local economy,” Park said.
Rep. Kim Jung-jae said Park would “lead Pohang’s livelihood issues effectively and practice politics of unity,” while Rep. Lee Sang-hwi added that “Pohang, the heart of conservatism, will become a strong pillar driving Korea’s industry and economy.”
The campaign committee includes Reps. Kim and Lee as senior advisors, with Gong Won-sik, Kim Soon-gyeon, Kim Sung-il, Kim Jae-sul, Lee Jae-yong, Lee Jung-ho, Lee Chil-gu, and Jang Kyung-sik serving as co-chairs. It also consists of advisory groups, a legal support team, and various organizational and functional units to support the campaign.
